Highland United Methodist Church, located in the Highland neighborhood in Hickory, North Carolina is committed to serving God and neighbor in the name of Jesus Christ. As we reach out to our neighbors and strive to build a community of faithfulness within, we believe God's love changes our lives for God's good purpose.  We invite you to browse our site to find opportunities for all ages to be engaged in life-giving, life-changing possibilities.

The people who are blessed in being Highland United Methodist Church are engaged in nurturing fellowship which shows disciple-like love and encouragement to one another. They are engaged in small group activities across age groups which involve discussions of the Scripture, our United Methodist tradition, the circumstances within the life of the congregation both on individual and collective levels as well as the opportunities for missions in the world around us amid the circumstances of that world. The congregation engages in worship which offers praise to our Triune God as we lay before God the concerns of our hearts for grace to be sustained in our trials, healed in our afflictions, forgiven of our sin, provided discernment for understanding and vision as we seek grace to be emboldened and enlivened in ministry and mission. The congregation is involved in mission to the community through several meal provision activities, a clothing closet, and benevolence fund to protect people from homelessness as well as providing opportunities for the members of the community to join with us in small group, fellowship, and worship activities. The Holy Scripture is the basis of worship services as it is the foundation of sharing a witness to the Good News of God. We are prayerfully engaged in discussion and discernment of new means of engaging the community around us in relationship and thus increase our opportunity to share our love for our neighbors as we witness our love and faith in the Triune God. It is through our desire to grow in our relationship with our Lord that we are moving toward being more vital and healthy as a church. This same desire also moves us toward being more fruitful in ministry while growing active disciples from developing believers in our midst.
